Book Review: Secrets of the Indus Valley

Review by Ishaan Kaila

I really enjoyed this book very much and I would recommend this book to people who often wonder how our ancestors lived and people who love questioning.

The writing style was easy to read, and, at some times the author adds some small bits of humour.

The book also covers a vast variety of subjects such as the Easter Island inscriptions, many archaeologists, famous discoveries etc.

The greatest fact I learnt from the book is that most of the discoveries were made first by normal people who were unaware of what they had just found.

I also learnt the names of the Indus Valley sites and wondered why they were named so. Why is Mohenjo-Daro called Mohenjo-Daro?

The book is actually quite short for the amount of information that it covers.

It has very few pictures and a lot of facts.

The thing I didn’t like was the format of the text. There was a lot of space on the sides, so I could read the page very quickly and had to keep flipping pages quickly. I thought they could use the page space better.

This book is also good for quick research and work assignments and I cannot restrict this book to any age, so just read it when you are interested!! The book is published by Children’s Book Trust.
