World Athletics Championships 2022

Today was the 10th and final day of the World Athletics Championships 2022.

The World Athletics Championships is an athletics competition that takes place every year.

Besides the Olympics, the highest level of outdoor senior international athletic completion globally for track and field athletics is represented by the World Athletics Championships. This year marks the 18th edition of the championships. The championships was held at Eugene, Oregon (United States) and started on 15th July. 

The participants were split into two groups group A and  group B. The events held in the 10 days are-

 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m, 5000 m, 10,000 m and Marathon in men and women running.

3000 metres steeplechase for men and women,

100 m hurdles for women and 110 m hurdles for men.

400 m hurdles for men and women.

A Heptathlon for women and Decathlon for men.

High jump, long jump, triple jump, shotput and Pole vault for men and women.

Hammer throw, discus throw, and javelin throw for men and women.

200 m race walk and 350 m race walk for men and women.

4 × 100 m relay for men and women and 4 × 400 m relay for men, women and mixed.

Medals Tally of the World Athletics Championships 202

For India, one of the highlights of the championships was Neeraj Chopra’s Silver. This silver medal makes him the second Indian to one both an Olympic medal and a championship medal.
