Shri Vikram Misri is the new Deputy National Security Advisor

Former Indian envoy to Beijing, Shri Vikram Misri, has been appointed deputy National Security Adviser (NSA) in the National Security Council Secretariat. He will replace Shri Pankaj Saran, whose term in office ends on December 31, 2021.

Shri Pradeep Kumar Rawat has been appointed as India’s new envoy to China.

Shri Vikram Misri will report to National Security Adviser, Shri Ajit Doval. There are 3 Deputy NSAs. The other two deputy NSAs are Shri Rajender Khanna and Shri Dattatray Padsalgikar.

About Shri Vikram Misri

The  1989 batch Indian Foreign Services (IFS) officer was appointed India’s ambassador to Beijing in 2019. India has

managed the Doklam and other border issues with China during his tenure. In the past, he has served as the private secretary to two former Prime Ministers – Shri Inder Kumar Gujral and Shri Manmohan Singh. He has also been the Indian ambassador to Spain and Myanmar, and served at various Indian missions.
