Mario Draghi sworn in as the Prime Minister of Italy

Rome, Feb 15: The Italian President, Sergio Mattarella, swore in the former chief of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, as the Prime Minister of Italy on Saturday.

All but one of Italy’s political parties came together to form a Unity Government.

A Unity Government is a kind of a coalition government formed during extraordinary circumstances e.g., war, economic slump, or pandemic situation.

Mario’s cabinet has representations and cooperation from all the political parties except one. He has posted technocrats in key roles like in Finance Ministry and a new Green Transition Portfolio. His main task at hand is to guide Italy through the unprecedented pandemic and to bring it out of the financial slump.
