Book Review: Great Institutions / Mahaan Sansthayein by Children’s Book Trust (CBT)

Do you ever wonder who first thought of the National Library in Kolkata, or why the Deccan College is able to do such a fantastic job with excavations in Rakhigarhi? How did Lalbagh (Bengaluru) happen? Who worked to preserve and restore ancient Indian texts?

This is the right book for you.

This book is a rare find and a true treasure.

The book is based on submissions by students!

Each institution is covered very nicely, covering the inspiration, the origin, its progress, and the current state.

The book is by Children’s Book Trust. I read the Hindi version, which, unfortunately, appears to be out of print.

The book is a short, quick read. Each chapter takes no more than 10 minutes, and at just 6 chapters, its good for a lazy summer afternoon. But one is left wondering about the vision that these founders had – the big dreams that they saw – and made real.
