Yoon Suk- yeol sworn in as South Korea’s President

Seoul May 11: Yoon Suk- yeol has been sworn in as the President of South Korea today. The swearing-in ceremony took place in Seoul’s National Assembly.

The speech was followed by the nationally televised opening of the Blue House (PM office) and a number of performances by choir and orchestra. More than 40,000 people were present, including delegations from U.S., China, and Japan.

More about Yoon Suk-yeol

Mr Yoon Suk-yeol was born on 18th December 1960 and is serving as the 13th President of South Korea. As a member of People Power Party, he narrowly defeated Democratic Party nominee Lee Jae- myung and won the presidential election on March 9, 2022.

Mr Yoon entered politics in 2021, having spent the last 27 years of his career as a prosecutor.

Yeol’s appointment comes at a crucial time when the country is facing many challenges ranging from North Korea’s military threat to economic slowdown and high inflation.
