World Maritime Day – September 24th

The World Maritime Day is an official United Nations Day.

The idea is to celebrate the contribution of maritime activities and to raise awareness about marine ecology.

Can you imagine that without ships, the Americas would never have been discovered? Since that first log that was noticed floating, our relationship with water has deepened to an extent that today, international trade is not possible without ships.

The International Maritime Day is observed on the last Thursday of every September.

The theme for this year’s Maritime Day is Sustainable shipping for a sustainable planet.

The theme for the National Maritime Day of India in 2020 was Resilient Sealift for a Resilient Nation. The National Maritime Day of India falls on 5th April every year.
