24 Indian archers participated in the World Archery Youth Championships 2023 held at Limerick, Ireland. The competition started on Monday, July 3. This tournament is the 18th edition of the championships and includes events for male and female archers in the under-21 and under-18 age groups.
The archers compete in individual and team events at the University of Limerick, Ireland. India has sent 12 archers in each age category, under-21 and under-18.
In the junior mixed team compound event at the World Archery Youth Championships in Limerick, Ireland, Priyansh and Avneet Kaur from India won the gold medal.
The junior mixed team compound event is a competition category in archery where one male and one female archer form a team and shoot together.
They defeated Israel in a final match with a score of 146-144 on July 5th.
Indian archers won two gold medals and one silver medal in various events on the fourth day of the World Archery Youth Championship 2023.
So far, Indians have won six gold, one silver, and four bronze medals.
Korea has been archery’s leading competitive nation for the past 40 years at the Olympic Games.
