Why don’t adults like cartoons?

The Why Series!

Thank you, Amey, for such an interesting question!
Let me first state that your question is an assumption and it certainly isn’t true for all adults. I am so sure as I come from a family of big admirers of this art. Let me tell you a little anecdote (a small and interesting true story).
It was a stressful time in my brothers life. Being an over achiever, a lot was expected from him and his job interview was about to start. He entered the room and a panel full of experts from an esteemed company were sitting in front of him. He was nervous but somehow managed to hold his ground. After the introductions were over, one of the panellists asked him about his hobbies. Now, my brother is a huge ‘Calvin and Hobbes’ fan. So he mentioned that. A huge fan himself, the panellist decided to ask him more questions about that.

Here’s an excerpt from his interview:
Q. Who wrote Calvin and Hobbes?
A. Bill Watterson
Q. Is Calvin based on Bill Watterson’s childhood?
A. No, he is a character based on a theologian (one who studies the nature of God, religion, and religious beliefs) who believed in predestination (the belief that all events happen as per the will of the God).
Q. What is Calvin’s Mom’s name?
A. That’s a trick question as Calvin’s parents remain unnamed in the comic book and are usually referred to as Mom and Dad.
Q. Which is the only character with their first and last name revealed?
A. Susie Derkins. She is Calvin’s playmate and neighbor. She carries a pet stuffed rabbit named Mr. Ben.

Q. And the last question. Why do you like Calvin and Hobbes so much?
A. I like the simple and yet profound humor which Calvin uses to understand the world around him. I like the mystery surrounding Hobbes – If he is alive or just a stuffed toy. I like their friendship which is pure yet selfish. Very much like real life.

My brother got the job based on this interview. Interesting isn’t it! It’s not good to mindlessly watch cartoon or read the book. If you like it then try to know more about it. Knowledge will never let you down! And thank you for your suggestion, ‘Miraculous Ladybug’ is on my list.
