California, Jul 6: A crew of six astronauts would be aboard the VSS Unity – a test flight spacecraft of Virgin Galactic. Virgin Galactic is a spaceflight company in USA. It was founded by Richard Branson in 2004. Unity22 is the first to carry a full crew of two pilots and four mission specialists in the cabin, along with founder Richard Branson. It will take off on 11th July from New Mexico. This spaceflight would be live streamed.
Amongst them is Indian origin astronaut Sirisha Bandla. Born in Andhra Pradesh, she would become the fourth astronaut of Indian origin to fly to space. She is also the vice-president of government affairs at Virgin Galactic. Before Sirisha Bandla, the Indian-origin astronauts to fly to space were Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams, and Rakesh Sharma.
