Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath virtually inaugurated Uttar Pradesh’s largest oxygen production plant in Modinagar, Ghaziabad. Medical oxygen is most needed now during the pandemic and meeting its demands now is high priority, said the minister in a press release.
This plant is commissioned by Inox Air Products, one of the largest producers of medical and industrial gases. Some features of the plant are:
It can produce 150 tonnes of liquid oxygen per day.
It can store 1000 metric tonnes of oxygen.
It can supply oxygen to around 200 hospitals in the state.
Collecting oxygen from air is not as easy as it sounds because the air around us consists of only 21% oxygen. So special techniques are needed for separation and distillation of this atmospheric air. The obtained oxygen is packaged into different grades. Medical oxygen can be used by medical, pharma industries, welding oxygen in chemical and electronic industries and breathing oxygen can be sent to aviation industries.
