Chances are, you have been the victim of a fraud. It could be work from home, short-term loan, digital arrest, anything at all!
So far, the only recourse was to report to 1930. But what if a crime has not been committed?
How to report a fraud number even if a fraud has not actually happened? (i.e., you saved yourself)
Government of India’s Sanchar Saathi portal allows citizens to report numbers from which they get these calls.
What happens after we report?
In the latest cases, people were being duped by fraudulent communication in the name of fake LIC officials and Insurance company representatives and SMSs for redemption of SBI Rewards.
The DoT received inputs from citizens on 19.05.2024 regarding such frauds from 14 mobile numbers.
Within 24 hours, the DoT analysed these cases and generated all linkages for these mobile numbers.
As a result of this initiative, 372 mobile handsets linked to these mobile numbers were blocked on pan-India basis on 21.05.2024 Also, 906 mobile connections were suspended and flagged for re-verification.
What else can we do on this portal?
The Sanchar Sathi portal has six citizen services.
