Poem by Ganapathiraman Raghu Raman
Many years ago
Was part of a scene
Working hard on a task
Like one had never been.
Seeing me so vexed
My grandmother came to me
“What ails thee my Grandson,
That sorrow is company?”
Thought to myself wistfully
“What would my old grandma know
With not even a grade school to show
And this topic not easy”
“Grand Ma. So many times
Have I tried my hand
At this task consistently
Nay, failure has been me”
The twinkle in her eyes
Lighted the scene plenty
“Boy” she said “Did you try
Everytime, a little bit differently?”.
That quip set me thinking
A learned fool I had been
Indeed, one thing stood glaring
Common sense escaped me.
With a few tries
Each with a difference
Finally worked the solution
Mighty glad was I.
Went to my old grandma
Gave her a big hug
“Grandma,your advice did the trick
When I was thinking like a brick”.
Never be fluffed with so much pride
That you may ignore
The wisdom that lies in people
Who have common sense of yore!
