Today, the James Webb Telescope released an image of the rings of Neptune.
Neptune is understood to have five rings.
The rings are thin and dark, so the first time they were discovered was in 1989 – by Voyager 2.
Voyager 2 was a spacecraft of NASA.
The rings are made up of rocks and dust. We only know this based on estimates and the images we have so far.
The rings are not uniform either. They are thick at some places and thin at others. As can be expected, all the five rings are not of the same thickness. Some are more prominent than the others.
