Sports news: Volleyball: 21st Asian Volleyball Championships 2021

Funabashi, Sep 19: The 21st edition of Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship will be held from September 12th to 19th in Chiba and Funabashi, Japan. The Asian Volleyball Championship is an international volleyball championship that is contested between 16 various teams chosen by the Asian Volleyball Championship. This year’s championship has been hosted by Japan. The countries participating this year are India, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Kazakhstan, China, Iran, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Australia, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Pakistan, Qatar, South Korea, Taipei, and Bahrain. Here’s an update of India’s performance at the championship:-

In the 9th -12th classification round, India defeated Saudi Arabia 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-23). Charles Jerome Vinith and Rai Ashwal were the top scorers with each of them scoring 15 points. India will next play against Bahrain for ninth place. With this, India has gone up to the 71st position in the International Volleyball Federation (men’s rankings). This is India’s third consecutive win in the championship, after defeating Kuwait (3-0) and Uzbekistan (3-0). Earlier India lost in playing against Bahrain, Qatar, and Japan and its door to the quarter finals were closed.
