Sports News: U20 World Athletics Championship

Nairobi, Aug 21: Here is an update of India’s performance on 4th day at the U20 World Athletics Championship 2021. This year, the championship is being held in Nairobi, Kenya.

  1. Men’s 10000m Race Walk (finals): Indian race walker Amit Khatri clinched the silver medal with a timing of 42:17.94. Kenyan Heristone Wanyonyi and Spanish Paul McGrath won the gold and bronze medals respectively.
  2. Women’s 10000m Race Walk (final): Mexico’s Sofia Ramos Rodriguez won the gold medal. French Maële Biré-Heslouis and Czech Eliška Martínková won the silver and bronze medals. India’s Baljeet Kaur finished 7th in this category.
  3. Men’s 4*400m Relay (semi-finals): In their group, Kenya, Jamaica and Botswana finished 1st , 2nd and 3rd respectively. While India finished 6th in the same category.
  1. Men’s 400m Hurdles: In the semi-finals of men’s 400m hurdles, India’s Rohan Gautam Kamble finished 7th in his category.
  2. Women’s 400m (finals): Nigerian Imaobong Nse Uko won the gold medal. Poland’s Kornelia Lesiewicz and Kenya’s Sylvia Chelangat got the silver and bronze medal respectively. India’s Priya Habbathanahalli Mohan just missed the medal and finished fourth.
