What is the Mikio Oda memorial Athletics meet?

The Mikio Oda Memorial Athletics meet is an event held every year in honour of the late Mikio Oda. What is triple jumping?

The sport, triple jump, is like the long jump. The athlete has to perform three phases of the jump. The hop, step and jump. The hop is taken on the right leg. Once landing is placed, a step forward is taken to prepare for the jump. Lastly, the athlete uses the backward force of the leg to leap into a sand pit.

Fouls are considered when the athlete misses the pit, oversteps the mark, or could not complete in the allotted time (90 seconds).

In the end, each jumper’s best jumps are compared. The athlete with the highest jump is declared the winner. In case of ties, the athlete with least fouls wins.
