London (UK), Jul 23: Wimbledon, one of the most prestigious tournaments in tennis, has begun. The defending champion for this tournament’s men’s singles is Novak Djokovic.
This year, fans will be able to attend the tournament matches up to a limit of 21,000 per match. This is half the normal capacity of the stadium. Former world number one Andy Murray, a British player, will be playing in the men’s Wimbledon singles for the first time since 2017. Right now, the qualification matches are being played.
Wednesday’s matches were: Ernests Gulbis from Latvia beat Andrej Martin from Slokovia 2 -0 and Brandon Nakashima from the USA beat Viktor Troicki from Serbia 2 – 1.
Anton Matusevich from the UK beat Carlos Taberner from Spain 2 – 0. Bernabe Zapata Miralles from Spain beat Bernard Tomic from Australia 2 – 0.
Ramkumar Ramanathan from India progressed to the final round of qualifiers by winning against Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-3, 6-4.
