New York, 6th Sep: 18-years-old Carlos Alcaraz from Spain became the youngest quarterfinalist at the US Open since 1963. The US Open is being held at the USTA (United States Tennis Association) Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
Carlos Alcaraz beat Peter Gojowczyk of Germany 5-7, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 on Sunday, 5th Sep 2021 to enter into the men’s quarterfinals. World no. 55, Alcaraz will now play against 21- years-old Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime for a place in the semi-final.
World no. 73, 18-years-old Canadian Leylah Fernandez beat 3-times Grand Slam winner German Angelique Kerber to reach the women’s quarterfinals on Sunday.
