Barbora Krejcikova bags two maiden titles in French Open 2021
Paris, (France) June 13: Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic has won the women’s singles and women’s doubles titles at the French Open 2021. On Saturday, Krejcikova defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the singles final, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. On Saturday, she and her partner Katerina Siniakova won the doubles title after defeating Iga Swiatek and Bethanie Mattek-Sands 6-4, 6-1.
After France’s Mary Pierce, Krejcikova is the first player since 2000 to win both the women’s singles and doubles titles at The French Open. She is also the first woman since Serena Williams in 2016 to win both the singles and doubles events at a Grand Slam. Krejcikova was competing in her fifth major tournament. When the rankings are updated, the 25-year-old will rise to 15th position in singles and return as the world number one in doubles.
