Salt Lake City, May 30: Climbing World Cup is organised annually by IFSC. This year it the competition was held in Salt Lake City, United States between May 28 and 30. The athletes competed in two categories namely Speed climbing and bouldering.
Speed Climbing: Speed climbing is a type of indoor rock climbing in which competitors compete to reach the top of the climbing wall in the quickest time possible.
Veddriq Leonardo of Indonesia clinched the gold medal in the men’s speed climbing. He climbed the 5-metre wall in 5.208 seconds setting a new world record. Aleksandra Miroslaw of Poland took the gold in the Women’s category by speed climbing the wall in 7.38 seconds.
Bouldering: Bouldering is a type of free climbing that is done without the use of ropes or harnesses on small rock formations or constructed rock walls. Bouldering isn’t simply about climbing a rock face. Instead, it’s a race against time to climb the boulder in as few moves as possible.
Sean bailey of USA bagged the gold medal in the men’s final whereas American climber Natali Grossman bagged the gold medal in Women’s finals.
