Sports News: Hockey: Women’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2023

Kakamigahara (Japan), June 11: The Indian women’s hockey team beat South Korea in the finals to clinch the Women’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup title. It was a game of 2-1. The event was hosted at Kakamigahara, a city in Japan.

Neither team scored any goals in the first quarter of the game. In the 22nd minute of the match, Annu from India, scored. Next, Park Seo Yeon from South Korea equaled the score in 3 minutes. To win the game, Neelam from India scored the goal at the 41st minute.

Player of the Match was awarded to Preeti, captain of the Indian team. HS Mohith was given the award of Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

To make it to the finals, India defeated Japan in a game of 1-0. South Korea won against China in the semi-finals.

This is India’s first win. South Korea previously won this tournament four times. India made it into the finals once in 2012. However, they lost to China 2-5.
