Ukraine reached the final eight for the first time in their history defeating Sweden by 2-1 in extra time.
England defeated Germany 2 – 0. With this win, England advanced to the quarter finals, knocking the German team out of the tournament.
The England team made history in this match by defeating Germany in a major tournament knockout match after 55 years.
The captain of the England team, Harry Kane, also scored his first goal of the tournament in this match. Switzerland beat France 4-3 to enter the quarter finals. Switzerland made a comeback from losing 3 – 1 all the way to winning.
This is also the first time that Switzerland has won any major tournament knockout round in 67 years. Spain beat Croatia 5 – 3. Spain celebrated their first knockout win in a major tournament since 2012.
