Portugal, May 6: The 47th edition of Volta ao Algarve cycling event started on May 5 and will finish on May 9. The event will have five stages with 25 teams of 175 riders. It will cover a distance of 775.8 kms between Lagos and Alto do Malhao in Loule of Portugal.
In the first stage, the players covered a distance of 189.5 kms and reached Portimao. Sam Bennett (of team Deceuninck) got the first place in 4:37.41 seconds. Danny Van Poppel (of team Intermarche) came second and Jon Aberasturi (of team Caja Rural) got the third place.
