May 27: Magnus Carlsen (Norway), the world’s no.1 in chess, has reached the semifinals of the FTX Crypto Cup. The cup is the first ever cryptocurrency chess tournament which is being held online. There is a total prize fund of $220,000 plus a $100,000 bonus in bitcoin. He beat Hikaru Nakamura (USA), with 2-2, 2-2 and 2-0. The first two games were draws, but Carlsen won the third and decider game. He will face Teimour Radjabov (Azerbaijan), in the semifinals, who beat Anish Giri (Netherlands) with 2.5-1.5, 2-2 to reach there. The other semifinal contest is between Wesley So (USA) and Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia).
