Following are the updates of the 8th day of the BWF World Championships 2021:
Men’s Singles
In the semi-final clash between Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew and Denmark’s Anders Antonsen, Loh Kean Yew won by 2-0 (23-21, 21-14). He is the first Singaporean to reach the finals of the World Championships.
Loh Kean Yew will also become the first Singaporean to bag a medal at the World Championships after he reserved a place in the top 3 after defeating India’s HS Prannoy in the quarterfinals.
Men’s Doubles
In the match between Japan’s Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi and Malaysia’s Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi, the Japanese duo won by 2-0 (21-13, 21-19).
In the next match, China’s He Ji Ting and Tan Qiang defeated Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Ramussen by 2-1 (21-16, 13-21, 21-15).
