Sport News: Squash: Anahat Singh from India wins Girl’s U-15 Title in British Junior Open

Birmingham, England Jan 8: On January 8 2022, Anahat Singh won the Girl’s Under-15 at the British Junior Open Squash Tournament in Birmingham, England.

Anahat defeated Sohaila Hazem from Egypt. It was a game of 3-1 in the final. In the quarter-finals, she beat Harleen Tan of Malaysia 3-0. She then won against Malak Samir from Egypt 3-0, in the semifinals.

This win makes two gold and one silver medals in her three appearances at the British Junior Open. In 2019, she won the under-11 title. She also finished as runner-up in 2022, in the under-13 category.

Anahat is now the most successful Indian player in the British Junior Open. At the age of 14, she was the youngest athlete to play in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The British Junior Open is a squash championship. It is held in January every year. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was not held for the past two years.
