India, Feb 13: Who wouldn’t remember watching the amazing series of the animated feature film, ‘Ice Age’? It was a prehistoric tale of 3 unlikely friends, a horrible sloth named Sid, a sole mammoth named Manny, and Diego, a fierce saber- toothed tiger with a conscience. It was created by the famous Blue Sky Studios as its first animated feature in 2002. The Walt Disney Company which took over Blue Sky Studios in 2019, has recently announced a complete shut down of the famous studio. The last day of Blue Sky will be in April 2021. The last release of the studio was the animated comedy ‘Spies in Disguise’ (2019). It was currently in the middle of making a fantasy/sci-fi hybrid ‘Nimona’, with a release date of January 14, 2022. It has been shelved. Disney had to take this tough decision as given the current economic situation, sustaining a third animation studio was not viable. Blue Sky Studios was originally founded in 1987 by a group of technology and animation pioneers Chris Wedge, Michael Ferraro, Carl Ludwig, Alison Brown, David Brown, and Eugene Troubetzkoy. It has a gross income of $5.9 billion and was purchased by 20th Century Fox in 1999.
