Sheetal Devi becomes the first Indian to win the Best Youth Athlete of the Year at the Asian Awards 2023

Sheetal Devi is 16 years old. She is also the world’s first female archer to compete without arms. Most other para-archers are wheelchair-bound.

She started her international winning streak with the silver medal at the World Para Archery Championships held at Pilsen (Czech Republic) in July and continued it with three medals (including two golds) at the Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, in October.

Sheetal is a native of Loidhar village, Kishtwar (Jammu and Kashmir). She was spotted during a talent scouting camp of the Indian Army and was included in the TOPS Athlete Scheme – a government scheme to identify, train, and promote athletes with high potential.

She is unique because she shoots with her feet.
