The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) granted Navratna status to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, RVNL. With this, RVNL becomes the 13th Navratna amongst the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).
About RVNL
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is a government owned company that comes under the Ministry of Railways.
It was incorporated on 24th January 2003 to undertake rail infrastructure development projects, including construction of new railway lines, doubling of existing lines, electrification of railway tracks, and modernization of railway stations.
RVNL is responsible for the planning, execution, and monitoring of these projects, with the goal of improving the efficiency and capacity of the Indian Railways.
RVNL was granted the Mini Ratna status in 2013 and has now been granted Navratna status, which is a significant recognition given to select public sector companies in India.
