Russian President arrives in India for Indo-Russian Annual Summit

The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, arrived in India on Monday, 6th December 2021 for the 21st Indo-Russian Annual Summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with President Putin at Hyderabad House (Delhi). The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic relations between the two countries.


Apart from the Russian President’s visit, an inaugural (marking the beginning of an event) 2+2 ministerial dialogue (it is an expression used when heads of defence and external affairs of the two countries meet to discuss strategic and security interests of the countries) was also
scheduled earlier in the day.


The Russian side was represented by Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the Indian side was represented by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
