On Sunday evening (February 18), the fourth round of talks between the government and the leaders of the protest movement for farmers started.
The protestors would like an ordinance to enforce MSP on crops.
In the meantime, internet services were suspended (temporarily stopped) in Haryana up to February 19th.
While the protestors are present on the Delhi border, there has been no fresh confrontation with the police forces.
A Bharat Bandh was announced by the protestors on February 16th to communicate to the government that these demands have the backing of the people.
A group of about a hundred farmers were arrested by the police when they tried to block railway tracks in Tamil Nadu. They were doing this to express support to the protests being held in Delhi by some farmer unions.
Even though the protests are being done by some farmer unions, the decisions taken, will be applicable to the entire agricultural sector – all farmers, middlemen, agricultural labour, buyers, electricity and water companies, etc.
