Delhi, Jul 14: Shri Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Textiles, was today named the Leader of the House – Rajya Sabha. He has been a member of the Rajya Sabha since 2010. He was the Railways minister till July 8th. Then, in the cabinet reshuffle, he was made the Minister for Commerce and Textiles. Textiles are a major export of India and an important trade item for us. This post was earlier held by Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot, who was also the Social Justice and Empowerment Minister till July 8th. He was among the ministers who resigned as a part of this reshuffle. Shri Gehlot has taken charge as the Governor of Karnataka. Shri Piyush Goyal will have to start working on his new responsibility almost immediately, because the Monsoon session of the parliament is starting on July 19th. 17 bills will be discussed in this session.
