Kerala, Sep 17
During the monsoon season, many of the backwater villages in Kerala see a bloom of pink water lilies. The pink water lily fields of Kottayam, especially Malarikkal, became one of the most photographed tourist attractions of Kerala during the last monsoon season.
This year, the Kerala Tourism Department has filmed guided tours of the flowering locations and other activities in the region. These videos will be streamed online through their official website over the coming days.
The government of Kerala has also announced its intention to organise a pink water lily festival every year. This will be like the other tulip festivals around the world and will help draw tourists to the state.
