Dr. Parag Agrawal, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Twitter since 2017, took over as the chief executive officer (CEO).
He takes charge from Twitter co-founder and CEO, Jack Dorsey. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, and a doctorate in computer science from Stanford University.
Dr. Agrawal became the latest India-born executive to take over a major American technology company and is the youngest CEO in S & P 500.

The S & P 500 Index (Standard and Poor) features 500 leading U.S. publicly traded companies listed on stock exchanges in the United States.
As CTO, Mr. Agrawal has been responsible for the company’s technical strategy, while overseeing machine learning and artificial intelligence. He helped in building Twitter’s technical infrastructure.
The outgoing CEO, Mr. Jack Dorsey, did not give any reason for stepping down. The transition happened within a day of the announcement.
