‘Order of the Nile’ honour for Prime Minister Modi

The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, is on a state visit to Egypt.

During this visit, he was honoured with the ‘Order of the Nile’ – Egypt’s highest civilian honour.

In addition to the meetings with the President of Egypt, Mr. Abdelfattah Elsisi, PM Modi also met the Grand Mufti (highest religious leader in Islam) of Egypt, the CEO of Hassan Allam Holding Company, Egyptians who are trying to popularise Yoga in Egypt, singers and cultural performers, and the Indians who live in Egypt.

As a special gesture, the Prime Minister of Egypt, Mr. Mostafa Madbouly, received the Indian Prime Minister at the tarmac.

The Egypt trip was right after the US trip of Prime Minister Modi. In the US, Amazon and Google were among the companies that made an investment commitment to India during this visit.

In addition to a state dinner, PM Modi also addressed a joint session of the Congress.
