Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine

This award was announced on October 2nd, 2023. The winners are Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman.

The contribution for which they have won this award is the modification of mRNA (a material in our cells which helps in transport of genetic material) to fight against Covid 19, which led to the formation of a vaccine.

This created a big impact in the world of medicine.

Nobel Prize for Physics

The Nobel Prize for Physics was announced on October 3rd, 2023. The winners are Pierre Agostini, Farenc Krausz, and Anne L’Huillier.

They discovered a way to create small pulses of light which help measure the way electrons move. This discovery is very useful for understanding more about the way electrons move in a material.

Nobel Prize for Chemistry

This prize was awarded to Moungi G Bawendi, Louis E Brus, and Alexie I Ekimov for their discovery and synthesis of quantum dots. These tiny particles, which are the smallest part of nanotechnology, can be used to give a lot of light and help surgeons and other doctors to perform surgeries where they need to observe something very small.

Nobel Prize for Literature

The winner is Jon Fosse, a Norwegian author, on October 5th, 2023 “for his innovative plays and prose which give voice to the unsayable.” 

Nobel Peace Prize

The Nobel Peace Prize winner this year is Narges Mohammadi for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all.

The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences will be announced on 9th October, Monday.
