New Zealand Election Results: Labour Party secures a huge victory

Jacinda Arden is re-elected as Prime Minister

The election results of New Zealand were declared today. The present PM Jacinda Ardern’s centre-right Labour Party won 49.1% votes to secure a majority of 64 seats in 120 seat assembly. The National Party won 26.8% with just 35 seats. Jacinda Ardern is set to be re-elected as Prime Minister with a majority, single party government. It’s the greatest victory since the present election system was established in 1996. Ardern thanked voters for showing their greatest support for them and called for New Zealanders to “step forward together”.
