India signed a deal in 2019 with an American company named Lockheed Martin worth $2.6 billion to buy 24 MH-60 helicopters from them. These are to be used by the Indian Navy. On the occasion of the Indian Navy day on December 4 , Lockheed Martin shared the first look of MH-60 Romeo helicopter in Indian Navy colours.
MH-60 Romeo’s are multi-mission helicopters that can detect, track and attack both surface ships and submarines. Every year Navy Day is celebrated with a different theme and the theme of 2020 Indian Navy Day is “Indian Navy Combat Ready, Credible & Cohesive”.
On the occasion of the Indian Navy day the first comic book of a three book series, chronicling India’s maritime heritage has been launched in collaboration with Amar Chitra Katha.
