New Directors Appointed at 4 IITs

New directors have been appointed at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Mandi, Indore, and Madras campuses.

Here is the list of the newly appointed directors at these campuses:

IIT Delhi

Prof. Rangan Banerjee.

Prof. Rangan Banerjee is a Forbes Marshall Professor at IIT Bombay. He graduated with a PhD from IIT Bombay and belonged to the Energy Science and Engineering Department.

IIT Madras

Prof. V Kamakoti. Prof. V Kamakoti is known for designing the country’s first indigenously/natively developed microprocessor- “Shakti” and is a member of the National Security Advisory Board, Government of India.

A microprocessor is a computer device known for being the computer’s brain. It performs many arithmetic (deals with numbers) and logical functions.

Prof. Kamakoti is also the dean for Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (ICSR), IIT Madras.

IIT Mandi

Prof. Laxmidhar Behara.

Prof. Laxmidhar Behara is currently the Head of the Intelligent Systems and Control Laboratory and an electrical engineering professor at IIT Kanpur, focusing on designing automation solutions for industrial and domestic problems.

IIT Indore

Prof. Suhas Joshi.

Prof. Suhas Joshi is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and National Academy of Sciences.

He works on enhancing theproductivity and quality of multi-scale machine operations using physics. Prof. Joshi worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Georgia Tech (USA) in 2002 and also was a visiting Faculty at UIUC (the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign), USA (2005-06).

He was the head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT Bombay, during 2014-17.
