Navroze Mubarak!

Today is the Parsi New Year as per the Shahanshahi Calendar.

The Parsis call their new year Navroze/ Nawroz. Nav – New; Roz – Day.

The Prime Minister and the President of India extended greetings to the Parsi community on this occasion.

The Parsis are followers of Zoroastrianism. Their faith was persecuted in Iran – its birthplace. This led to the community seeking protection in other parts of the world. India has the world’s largest Parsi population, followed by Iran.

The Parsis pray at the fire temple, also called an Agiari. Non-Parsis are usually not allowed inside the temple.
