Delhi, Sep 15: September 15th is International Nurses Day.
On this day, 51 nurses were honoured by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind. The Union Health Minister, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, was also present.
Florence Nightingale helped care for soldiers during the Crimean War and is known as the founder of modern nursing. That is why the awards are named after her.

The President praised the selfless contribution of nurses in the fight against COVID-19 as well as their hard work in accelerating the national COVID Vaccination Programme. He also said that India’s achievement of administering(giving) more than one crore vaccine doses per day has become possible because of the exemplary devotion of our nurses.
