The Padma Awards and other civilian awards have been based on citizen nomination for a few years now. (Before this, the government used to decide who would get the awards, citizens could not nominate people who they thought were doing stellar work).
To make the nomination process simple, a website was launched by the government yesterday.
This website allows us to:
A. Nominate people for awards.
B. Know about the various citizen awards – what do they stand for, who is eligible, etc.
C. Know how many applications have been received.
D. See the ministry wise listing of awards.
The Home Page of the portal provides some key information like no. of registrations, current and upcoming nominations, and a photo gallery. The menu options are very simple:

One needs to register to nominate someone for the awards.
