Mt. Kilimanjaro gets 500 firefighters

Mt. Kilimanjaro is Africa’s tallest peak. It is also the highest single free- standing mountain in the world, with a height of 19,341 feet (5,895 metres). It is located in Tanzania, near the border of Kenya. For a couple of days, there has been a fire on the mountain. The flames can be seen from miles away. 500 firefighters are working to extinguish (put out) the fire. We don’t know the exact cause of the fire yet, but a statement by the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) assured the tourists that they are safe.
