Moto GP: The Indian Oil Grand Prix of India

The Indian Oil Grand Prix of India or MotoGP Bharat event was recently held from 21st September 2023 to 24th September 2023 in the Buddh International Circuit (BIC). The race consisted of 21 laps. Apart from the MotoGP race, the Grand Prix also included the Moto3 race and Moto2 race. Hence, a total number of 41 teams were seen over the weekend. Here’s a split of the number of teams in each type of race-

MotoGP:11 teams

Moto3: 14 teams

Moto2: 16 teams

  MotoGP

·       1st – M. Bezzecchi: An Italian racer belonging to the Mooney VR46 Racing Team

·       2nd– J. Martin: A Spanish racer belonging to the Prima Pramac Racing team.

·      3rd– F. Quartararo: A French racer belonging to Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™.

Moto3

·       1st – J. Masia: A Spanish racer belonging to the Leopard racing team

·       2nd– K. Toba: A Japanese racer belonging to the SIC58 Squadra Corse team.

·      3rd– A. Sasaki: A Japanese racer belonging to the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP team.

Moto2

·      1st– P. Acosta: A Spanish racer belonging to the Red Bull KTM Ajo.

·      2nd– T. Arbolino: An Italian racer belonging to the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team.

·       3rd– J. Roberts: An American racer belonging to the Italtrans Racing Team.

What is MotoGP?

MotoGP is a world-class motorcycle racing. It is licensed by Fédération Internationale De Motocyclisme, there have been races since the 20th century. Its first formal competition was held in 1949, making it the oldest motorsport championship.

There are typically 19 races all around the world in the season from March to November. MotoGP currently has 11 teams, these are-

·       Paramac Racing

About the Buddha International Circuit

The Buddha International Circuit (BIC) is a Motor Racing Circuit located in Greater Noida and is 5.14 kms long. The track was officially inaugurated on 8th October 2011. The track is one of the fastest racing tracks and is very suitable for motor sports. The BIC has previously also hosted 3 rounds of Formula One Indian Grand Prix on 26th October 2011. Here are some characteristics of the track-

  • Average Speed in a lap: 210 Kmph
  • Fastest Lap duration: 1-minute 27seconds
  • Track Direction: Clockwise
