Lonavala Travelogue

Feature by Yashasvi Anika Tandon

I recently visited Lonavala, a little hill station near Pune, Maharashtra. It is nestled in the Sahyadri mountains. According to the locals, the ideal time for visiting Lonavala is in the rainy season. Nonetheless, enjoyed myself to the fullest!

Lonavala is the small town in Maharashtra having a whole lot of greenery. The Pawna Lake there is famous for boating. The town is also famous for its ‘chikkis’ and ‘fudges’ which are a must try!

A few places to visit are:

Khandala Lake

It is a peaceful and serene lake in Khandala which is quite close to Lonavala. We can also do boating at the Khandala lake.

Khandala point

Khandala point overlooks a valley of shrubs and waterfalls. Most of the waterfalls are seasonal, still, the valley is pretty all round the year.

Shri Narayani Dham Temple

Shri Narayani Dham temple is a picturesque and pristine temple in Lonavala. It has vibrant in beautiful idols of Lord Ganesh, Goddess Durga, and Lord Hanuman. A Gaushala is also present there where people are free to feed cows.

Tiger Point

Tiger’s Point, also known as Lion’s Point, is best in the evening when the breeze is pleasant and a view of the sunset can be captured. There are numerous eateries at the point. The reason why it is called Tiger point is because there is a hill below the point which looks like a sitting tiger or a lion with its mouth open.
