On 5th August 2023, Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand experienced a massive landslide. The landslide occurred just 16 kilometres from Kedarnath.

Before this, on Friday, heavy rains in Rudraprayag caused another large landslide near Gaurikund on the Kedarnath Yatra path.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is monitoring the search and rescue efforts. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have also set up relief and rescue efforts.

What causes Landslides?
