Karnataka releases Grade 12 results, but students can choose to take exam in August

Delhi, Jul 22: Karnataka has released the results for Grade 12 (also called PUC – Pre-University College) using the following formula:

  1. 45% weightage to Grade 10 marks (also called SSC – Secondary School Certificate).

2. 10% weightage to internal assessments (school tests and marks got in these tests).

3. 45% weightage to Grade 11 (First year PUC) marks.

Students can check their marks at https://pue.kar.nic.in/.
Students who do not agree with this formula can register to write exams. These exams will be conducted in August 2021. However, students will then have to accept the marks that they get in these exams. They cannot, after getting the results of the exams, ask for the best of two assessments to be considered for their Grade 12 certificate of marks.

Why is it called PUC?

In Karnataka, students attend something called junior college after Grade 10. This is why the Grade 12 certificate is called Pre-University College.

Why are Grade 12 marks important?

Grade 10 and 12 marks are important in the Indian educational system. These marks carry at least some weightage in most college admissions, job selections, etc.
