Bengaluru, Jul 28: After the resignation of Shri B. S. Yediyurappa (the previous CM of Karnataka) on Monday, Shri Basavraj Bommai has been elected as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka. He was sworn in on Wednesday. He is the 23rd Chief Minister (CM) of Karnataka.
Who is Basavraj Bommai?
Aged 61, Shri Basavraj Bommai has held many posts during his long political career in Karnataka.
He has served as:
1. Member of Karnataka Legislative Council twice – 1998 and 2004
2. The MLA of Shiggaon (Haveri district) thrice
3. Minister of Water Resources
4. Minister of Home Affairs
5. Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs
6. Minister of Cooperation.
