Under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), National Skill Development Corporation’s (NSDC’s) JuniorSkills Championship is a national skill competition for school students.
It was launched in partnership with CBSE.
This competition is for classes 6-12. The second edition of JuniorSkills will be retitled as IndiaSkills Junior, and a new logo was made public.
The Government of India awarded cash prizes, certificates, and medals to more than 60 winners.
Approximately 2 lakh students from more than 21,000 schools registered for the competition. Winners of the gold medal will be given a chance to attend the WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai in October 2022. Throughout the world, different countries compete for the ultimate recognition of their abilities in the world’s premier skill competition.
A major goal of JuniorSkills is to expose students to vocational education at a young age so that they can make an informed decision about their career choices, under the National Education Policy 2020.
Additionally, vocational training also enhances a student’s academic achievements by developing analytical and collaborative skills, as well as teamwork. These skills contribute to problem-solving abilities.
The competition is aimed at developing a platform for professional guidance and giving preference to vocational education at the school level.
More than 2 lakh students from all over the country in classes 6-12 registered in 10 rising vocations which include Web Technologies, IT software program solutions, Visual Merchandising, Graphic Design, Fashion Studies, Mobile Robotics, Painting and Decorating, Solar Energy, Innovative Business Ideas, and Photography.
The National Skill Development Corporation believes that training and education are integral parts of students’ development. Competitions like JuniorSkills play an essential position in elevating focus about the significance of competence-based learning and life-long learning.
This championship is an opportunity for students to show their talent and acquire suitable education for turning their abilities into a gainful career option.
